Grandbury, TX
Roadway and Security Lighting
Use Case:
The city of Grandbury, Texas looks to improve energy efficiency, increase safety and reduce its carbon footprint by installing over 500 GreenStar LED roadway luminaires all with inclusive autonomous voltage interrupters (AVI) to protect against dirty power and increase the longevity of their LED luminaires. GreenStar luminaires come standard with high quality surge protection designed to defend the luminaire against extremely high voltage events, such as lightning strikes. The GreenStar AVI is designed to protect the luminaire from damaging sag (under) and swell (over) voltage conditions due to load switching, unbalanced loads, dirty power, over fused conditions etc. These dirty power events can damage the components in the drivers causing the luminaire to either fail, blink or stay on during the day. The GreenStar AVI is designed to protect the luminaire so that customers feel comfortable knowing their asset is protected against these non-warranty related events.
The city also installed in many areas GreenStar integrated security cameras in order to provide additional safety enhancements.
Replacing outdated high-pressure sodium lamps with energy efficient LED roadway luminaires equates to an expected saving of 60% in energy costs. With an expected rated life equivalent to over 100,000 hours, GreenStar LED luminaires require little to no maintenance and the city expects to recoup additional savings in operational costs.
The city of Grandbury expects to achieve other benefits including whiter light and uniformity to help improve visibility to both vehicle and pedestrian traffic.
